New Parents

Newborn baby

Have you recently had a baby with Down syndrome, or are you expecting a baby who's been antenatally diagnosed as having Down syndrome?

Right now you probably have lots of questions you want answering and concerns you want to express. Be reassured that it's natural to wonder how your new baby is going to impact on you, your family and friends. You might be thinking:

  • What is Down syndrome, and how will it affect my baby?
  • How will our baby affect the rest of the family?
  • How can I help my baby to reach their full potential?
  • What will they be like as an adult?

If you take out the first question, you will find all parents asking the others!

One of the best ways to get answers to these questions is to speak to a parent of a child with Down syndrome. Keep in mind that you are not alone! We're here and would be delighted if you got in touch with us. We can help both you and your baby.

To get in touch, please phone Maggie Hart on 07806 707465 or Sue Belton on 07806 707466, or you can email us at new-parent-help@eccds.org.uk.
